The Origin Story
It all starts with questions. Isn’t it?
Those tiny seeds of doubt and fascination planted in childhood. Why do some people love soap operas while others obsess over football? What secret lies behind the colors of the clothes we wear? Could certain foods and vitamins really make us smarter or stronger, as my mother once told me?
These early mysteries, coupled with the irresistibly persuasive adventures of Popeye and his spinach-fueled strength, sparked a curiosity that would shape my life.
But curiosity doesn’t always thrive.
Middle and high school were challenging years. Education, confined to rigid curricula, left little room for exploration. The questions that haunted me as a child—those puzzles about preferences, behavior, and meaning—remained unanswered. Yet, even then, a spark endured.
College was a turning point, though not without its own battles. The villain of practicality—the need for a lucrative career—loomed large. I nearly chose business school, but my father, in a rare and unconventional suggestion, pointed me toward languages. That decision changed everything.
Through linguistics, discourse analysis, and semiotics, I found tools to uncover the layers of meaning hidden in words, images, and sounds. Finally, the childhood questions felt within reach. Academia offered an exciting playground of theories and debates, and I immersed myself fully: three full degrees (Languages, Social Sciences and Education), a Master’s, and a PhD later, I had learned much—but I wasn’t satisfied.
The world is too vast for any single discipline to capture. Nutrition, economics, behavior, and the human body all begged for attention, yet academia often rewards deep specialization, but it struggles to embrace the panoramic view needed to connect the dots across disciplines.
It wasn’t until my PhD advisor reflected on my insatiable curiosity—“You’re always trying to understand what it means to be human”—that I realized what had been driving me all along.
And so, this site was born. It’s my way of bringing all the pieces together, an exploration of science, life, and the questions that make us who we are. Here we celebrate these enigmas, not as problems to solve but as invitations to think, wonder, and grow.
Thank you for joining me on this journey. Let’s keep asking, learning, and discovering together.
